error message “Microsoft Security Center Service can’t be started” but Microsoft Security Essential installed working fine
On Windows 7 Ultimate, I am running Microsoft Security Essentials as my anti-malware program. Windows 7 Action Center shows Microsoft Security Essential as "turned off" There is a button to "Turn on now". Clicking on this error message “Microsoft Security Center Service can’t be started” but Microsoft Security Essential installed working fine (update, scaning). I try fixing problem from troubleshooting but it shows no problem found. Problem is in only Action Center. Please help me fixing this problem.

Have you looked at changing the way Action Center notifies you? Go to Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Action Center > Change Action Center settings in the left pane. Perhaps toggle one or two of them off and back on.

Hi, Please try the following steps. 1. Click "Start", go to run, type "services.msc" (without quotation marks) in the open box and press Enter. Note: If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password, or click Continue. 2. Right click the "Security Center" service and choose Properties. 3. On General tab click Start. 4. Choose Automatic next to Startup type. 5. Click OK. Can the service be started successfully? If not, please post the error message for further research. Thanks, Novak
